Seven Flavor Beef
Makes 2-4 Servings
Ingredients
* FOR THE MARINADE:
*1 tablespoon lemongrass
*1/2 teaspoon ginger
*1/2 teaspoon garlic
*1/2 teaspoon fish sauce
*1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
*1/2 teaspoon honey
*1 teaspoon dried chili flakes
*1 teaspoon Chinese five spice
*1 teaspoon salt
*8 ounces flank steak
* TO PREPARE THE DISH:
*1/4 cup red onion
*1/2 bunch green onions
*1 cup bean sprouts
*2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
*1 tablespoon ground peanuts
*20 Thai basil leaves
Instructions
1Combine the ingredients for the marinade and add flank steak. Marinate for 1 hour. Remove beef from marinade; discard marinade.
2Sear red onion, green onions and bean sprouts in a wok and set aside on a serving plate.
3Add beef to very hot wok and sear to rare. Add hoisin sauce to coat; bring up heat. Add ground peanuts and basil. Continue to cook until beef is medium rare.
4Place over bean sprouts and onions and serve immediately.
