Asian-Style Baby Back Ribs
Makes 4-6 Appetizer Servings
*1/3 cup orange juice
*1/4 cup soy sauce
*4 tablespoons brown sugar
*2 tablespoons Chinese plum sauce
*1 teaspoon Chinese five spice powder
*1-2 racks baby back pork ribs (2 1/2 to 3 pounds total)
1Prepare the marinade by combining the orange juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, plum sauce and five spice powder together in a small bowl. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Pour 1/4 cup into a small dish and set aside for basting the ribs.
2Place ribs in a large baking dish and cover with remaining marinade, turning several times to coat the ribs. You may have to cut the ribs into 2 racks to fit in the dish. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for 1 hour, turning to coat every fifteen minutes. (See Notes)
3Preheat oven to 375F degrees. Place oven rack in the middle position.
4Remove ribs from the marinade and place in a baking dish. Discard marinade. Roast 1 hour until they are browned and tender.
5Spray grill rack with non-stick spray. Heat grill. Transfer ribs to the grill and brush with reserved marinade. Grill until ribs are cooked through and marinade is thick and syrupy, about 15 minutes.
6Cut into individual ribs for appetizer servings.
  • Alternately, place the ribs in a large, sealable plastic bag and add marinade. Marinate ribs in the refrigerator, turning the bag every fifteen minutes.
