Dad's Beer Burgers
Makes 8 servings
*2 pounds ground beef (80% lean)
*Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
*1 cup beer
*8 cheese slices, such as American, Cheddar or Swiss
*8 sesame-seed-topped hamburger buns, split
*Assorted accompaniments: lettuce leaves, tomato slices, red onion and yellow onion slices, pickles
*Assorted condiments: ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, relish, steak sauce
1Form ground beef into 8 evenly-sized patties. Salt and pepper, to taste. Preheat grill.
2Grill hamburgers, basting often with beer, until cooked through as desired. Top with cheese and continue to grill until cheese is melted. Transfer burgers to hamburger buns.
3Serve with assorted accompaniments and condiments.
